This cocktail first printed in Jerry Thomas’s The Bon Vivant’s Companion finds its origins somewhere “along the Mississippi,” according to cocktail historian, David Wondrich.
1 1/2 oz. light rum 1 oz. rye or bourbon 1 oz. brandy 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice 1/2 tsp. granulated sugar 1 dash Angostura bitters Ice cubes Tools: shaker, strainer Glass: Collins
Combine all ingredients with ice and shake. Strain over fresh ice into a Collins glass.
