Mean Streets Cocktail

Named after Martin Scorsese’s seminal film of 1973, this cocktail combines classic Italian and American spirits with fresh lemon for a potent sipper that's anything but unkind.

1 1/2 oz. sambuca
1/2 oz rye whiskey (Laszlo uses Rittenhouse 100)
Half a lemon, cut into quarters
Ice cubes
Crushed ice
Tools: muddler, shaker, strainer
Glass: rocks
Garnish: lemon twist and fresh mint sprig

Muddle lemon quarters in a shaking tin. Add sambuca and ice cubes and shake. Strain into crushed ice-filled rocks glass and float rye whiskey over the top. Garnish.

Laszlo Bar, San Francisco
