Cinnamon Fig Sidecar

Bridget Albert finds cocktail harmony in this delicious spiced sipper.

1 Black Mission fig
1 1/2 oz. fresh sour mix (see below)
pinch of freshly ground cinnamon
1/2 oz. orange Curaçao
1 1/2 oz. VSOP Cognac
Tools: knife, muddler, shaker, strainer
Glass: sugar-rimmed cocktail
Garnish: fresh fig wheel

Remove fig from the stem and cut a thin slice for the garnish. Dice the remainder of the fig, combine with the fresh sour mix in the shaker and muddle until well combined. Add the cinnamon, orange curaçao, Cognac and ice cubes and shake. Strain into the sugar-rimmed glass and garnish.

Fresh sour mix: Combine 2 cups fresh lemon juice and 1 cup simple syrup (1:1) and stir well. Cover. Will keep refrigerated for up to 1 month.
